Today, we’re going to take a look at the top five best screen recorders, so if you want to make a screen recording on a game play or if you just want to record something on your computer screen, you can find some of the best programs available to so.
The Best Screen Recorders You Can Handle
Some of these recorders cost money, but many are actually free to use. They all include a bunch of different features and attributes, so of course, there are some you’ll be fonder of than others. Below, are our top 5 picks for screen recorders.
The first screen recorder on our list is most likely going to be known by a lot of people. The good thing about Bandicam is that there is a free version and a licensed version, so if you just want to go ahead and try it out - you can get the free version and see if it suits you.
Obviously, if you do like it, then you can go ahead and pay for it. We got our hands on it a long time ago - it's really not that expensive a price to record your computer screen. It is however, definitely worth the time to go and check it out.
In a nutshell, its capabilities extend to recording different windows and games that you're playing; simple functionality, but the chances of it actually being corrupt, or the chance of the recording actually not working are very slim. It's a very nice recorder, especially if you have an editor.
FRAPS
Up next is probably the most classic gaming screen recorder - FRAPS. FRAPS is basically a recorder that specializes in recording gameplay footage. And it is really good at doing so, because it's really only made to record gameplay, so you cannot record your computer screen or different programs that aren't the game currently running.
But that's why it's mainly made for games - it works really well with games. The only problem with it is that it does cost a little bit of money to get access to - it costs $20, and there is no free version either.
Also, if the game you're playing crashes, then unfortunately the recording is going to either stop or crash too. We wouldn’t don't recommend it if you're going to want to record more things than just your gameplay, but if you're just going to strictly be a gaming channel or something similar, then definitely go and check out FRAPS – we definitely rate this as one of the best screen recorders.
Screencast-O-Matic
The next one we have is called Screencast-O-Matic, and we just heard about this quite recently. Basically, it's the first screen recorder that shows up when you go to Google – there are a lot of results that show up, but a lot of them aren’t worth your time, and they require you to pay money just to record a tiny amount of time. They mostly also only record in 720p, which is the lowest level of HD, unless you pay $15 per month.
But Screencast-O-Matic is the most high-quality free screencast system that there is available. You can record your screen straight online, and you can also download it too. You can pay, but there isn’t actually much difference when you pay it – it’s more for support of the company rather than anything else.
It is, however, one of the best screen recorders that we suggest you check out. If you just want to start off using screen recorders, but you don't know exactly where to start, it's definitely a good choice to have a go with.
Camtasia Studio
Now if you've seen a lot of screen recording software videos, then you probably know already about a screen recorder called Camtasia Studio, because it's the most classic, generic old-school screen recorder you can possibly find. But the good thing about it is that it has actually been improved over time, and it definitely is a lot better than it was originally.
Camtasia is also 100% free. Camtasia comes with its own editor as well, so it basically allows you to record anything - primarily your game screen, but you can record pretty much anything you can think of, and you can actually go live straight on YouTube with Camtasia or you can edit the video with the built-in editing software.
Pretty nifty, if we do say so ourselves! And for the paid price, it's actually it comes with a lot of extras, too.
iOS/Quicktime
Now, finally is probably one of the most requested programs in the history of recording screen software. It would be recording the software of your mobile device like your iPad, or your iPhone. Now, believe it or not, some people don't even realize this, but with the new iPhone, you actually have a built-in screen recording software that comes with iOS 11, so in actuality, you can record the screen, or do any crazy things with your phone.
All you have to do is pull up your notification center and there's an option good to go, and if it's not there, then you probably haven't received the update yet. You can go into settings and you will find an option for screen recording, and you can record your iPhone screen quite easily.
Bare in mind, it might not be the best screen recorder. You can't really record HD, and you can't really connect your microphone to it. So, if you want to record good audio with that, it's not going to be the weapon of choice, but still, it’s a great addition to the iOS sofware.
You can also emulate the screen recording iOS provides by using Quicktime on a Mac or PC. Screen recording options exist for this too, so there are plenty of options either way.

Picking Your Recorder
All of these options above can be utilized to get a decent screen recording for whatever content you may choose to create. What is more important to remember, however, is the quality of the content, and presenting it in a sound way.
That’s why we’ve decided to pen the next section. Making sure your content is recorded properly is a must, but then there’s the actual quality of the content. People are going to stick around if the content isn’t up to par.
Also presenting it in the right fashion is of utmost importance too. Take a look at some of our tips below.
A Few Tips For Making Gaming Videos
We thought we’d include a few tips on those YouTubers, or for people that just want some setup advice. Here, we will focus on five tips for when you create your videos.
When you follow a content creator that you're subscribing to, the first thing you’ll notice is the YouTube thumbnail. Now, believe it or not, the YouTube thumbnail makes a big difference and it's really important, because it gives your followers an interest in watching your videos. Usually a good thumbnail is a thumbnail that is easy to read or understand.
If you use a small text or strong colors, for example, it becomes less clear what you're trying to present. Optimal examples have text that is large and easy to understand.
On top of that, we recommend using a custom font, instead of the default ones you already have installed. There are many fonts that are more interesting to the human eye, and they can help your thumbnails stand out.
The second thing you should think about is the intro. Now, you obviously want an intro that represents your channel – our biggest advice is to keep it short and simple.
Nobody likes to watch a 20 second intro, or even a 10 second intro - your viewers will most likely skip the intro when it appears anyway. A good intro can be done in Cinema 4D or After Effects, and you can find great free templates on YouTube. Find one that you like and keep it short and simple.
We wouldn’t recommend having a part of the song as your intro. It's better to have something unique, because it's easier to remember your channel and what you’re bringing to the table. Here's a bonus tip: you can start the video by making an introduction to the subject of the video, then show your intro right after. This will make sure that everyone follows you from the beginning and it encourages people to continue watching.
However, in honesty, you don't even need an intro, although we do recommend one, because it helps create a bond with the viewer and makes them remember your channel a lot more. Even though we did mention that they might skip it, the fact you’ve included one in itself is a strong form of channel branding.
Our third tip is that If you plan on talking in your video, make some notes or write some scripts before you shoot. The more you prepare beforehand, the easier it will be to present your video and its subject. The video also becomes shorter and easier to follow. Many people make tutorials without rehearsing what they're going to say, and it ends up being a really long improvised mess.
So always remember to take notes and prepare yourself for what you're going to say. Something else you might want to think about is recording your voice and footage separately.
You can record your video footage with some of the programs we listed above and your audio footage with Audacity, for example. This will allow you to place your voice in the footage, wherever it fits best, and cut out the unnecessary parts, which comes to our next piece of advice.
Edit the videos, so you're only showing what's interesting. Try to bring down as many seconds as possible from all the boring parts that you don’t need. Nobody wants to watch a video, when all they see is a guy running around and nothing is happening. So cut and edit the video to make it more interesting for the viewer.
The final thing that we would suggest - if you plan on making more videos, make sure you notify your fans about it, because this will make them stay around and look for new content, as well as subscribe to the content you already have ready. Many YouTubers end their videos with related videos, which is a good way to gain traction.
Some others just end the video by saying, ‘If you liked the video, you can subscribe,’ which is acceptable too, as long as you make sure that your viewers have understood that you're going to make more videos. I don’t have to be anything particularly fancy, just something that gets the message across and helps with your viewers’ retention.
